So here I am. The border cairn at Treriksröset, my finish line at the Finnish line. Fifty-six days and 1391km on the trail, and my Green Ribbon is over.
It’s been the most wonderful adventure, and while I’m elated to have made it, I’m rather sad that it’s done.
This morning, as if to give me a last reminder of Swedish generosity, the wardens at Pältsastugan invited me in for coffee, proudly presenting me with cheese and real rye bread while they made do with the dry stuff. ‘Something special for you’, smiled Margareta as she placed it on the table. A last gesture of kindness in a summer full of it.
It’s been a very special time, and I’ll write a more considered post-mortem once I’ve had time for it all to sink in a bit. In the meantime, it’s time for me to start finding my way home, and to wish the best of luck to those Green Bandits still on the trail…
Congratulations Joly! I am happy to hear you’ve made it all the way! Thanks so much for sharing your adventure with us, it’s been very interesting to follow your journey!
All the best,
Mia

Thank you Mia! I hope Nils-Inge’s trip is going well. From the SPOT transmissions it looks like he’s nearly at Alesjaure. Do give him my best wishes when you next speak to him.
